Having spent most of his childhood in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, Daniel decided there was more to life than sheep and, after a studious sojourn in Edinburgh, was tempted to England by the bright lights and green fields of Otley!
Armed with a degree in communication studies, a new briefcase and a cheap suit he joined a local consultancy and stayed for four years. Rising through the ranks from account executive to account director, he worked on a number of accounts in a variety of sectors overseeing everything from the launch of the UK's first in-store football stadium to the demolition of the UK's first indoor shopping centre.
Deciding he wanted a gap year before it was too late, he packed his bags and flew off on a "working" holiday through Malaysia, Australia and South Korea, returning nearly 18-months later having done very little work, but with an Australian girlfriend on his arm… he still plays with his didgeridoo when he has a quiet moment to himself!
Dressed in his now tatty cheap suit and carrying his well-battered briefcase Daniel joined Source in the Spring of 2002, having impressed Steve with his tales of freelance journalism and regular radio appearances and won Peter over by laughing at his jokes.
