Rachel Barson

Rachel originally hails from Hull, where against all odds, she never picked up the habit of pronouncing "home" as "herm".

A trip down South to Oxford Uni saw her graduate in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and although she may not have learned to cook or make a decent cup of tea, she did play a lot of hockey and learned how to punt.

Having decided that she wasn't quite prepared to let go of academia, she began her slow ascent back up North, stopping in the not-so posh locale of Brum.

Here she again managed to avoid picking up any trace of the local accent, but did walk away with a Masters in International Relations and her tea-making inability still intact.

Always keen to buck the trend, Rachel then decided to turn her back on the high-flying, jet-setting career path followed by so many of her friends and instead opted for the high profile East Yorkshire market town of Beverley, where she spent two years ensuring that the MP for Beverley and Holderness made the papers for all the right reasons.

Hooked on media relations, Rachel joined Source in March 2008 and upon entering the world of PR, found herself organising a new Guinness World Record for the world's largest knitted tea cosy (for Bupa care homes).

In the meantime, she returned to the world of books by completing a diploma in PR, still plays hockey, still avoids making tea and still dodges her turn in the kitchen (although sadly, doesn't punt anymore).

Rachel's main role in Source is to mock the competitive duals between Peter and Daniel on a daily basis and make sure no-one forgets each other's birthdays.
