Leeds-based PR and social media agency, Source Marketing Communications has marked its 15th anniversary with an e-makeover that has seen the company revamp both its branding and its website.

The agency was formed in April 2001 by Steve Clark and Peter Downey following their departure from the board of what was then one of the biggest PR operators in north of England. Since then it has built a strong reputation for delivering cost-effective and highly successful campaigns for a wide range of both B2B and consumer clients, including household names Bupa Care Homes, Radisson SAS and Ster Century Cinemas (now part of Vue).

Source director and co-founder, Peter Downey, said: “When we launched Source in 2001 we didn’t dare think we’d still be operating one-year down the line, let along 15. Yes, there have been a few lows during that time, but thankfully the majority of Source memories have been overwhelmingly positive.”

“We’ve picked up a number of significant awards, including a handful of CIPR ones, planned and executed two client campaigns that have seen us set new Guinness World Records and, most astonishingly, hung on to two clients for the entire 15-years.”

Source is now looking to the future, with new directors, Daniel Kennedy and Martha Phillips, seeking to prolong the company’s success story for the next 15-years. A key part of this has been future-proofing the agency with the addition of a social media division, which in less than a year has proved itself a major success, both in helping to expand existing clients and secure a host of new accounts.”

“They say you can’t teach an old dog new tricks,” added Peter. “Well, over the last year, Steve and I have had to learn an entirely new book of them!”

Source’s current client rosta includes manufacturers, global exporters, debt managers, contract packers, national housebuilders, equity release specialists, invoice financers, an adult gaming and Bingo operator, and a globally renowned chocolate maker.

“Public relations can be a very cut-throat and stressful profession,” concluded Peter. “But we’ve been very lucky in the clients we’ve won and worked with over the years. Our aim is always to become an invaluable part of the marketing team, an approach that has seen us maintain working relationships that stretch far beyond any industry average.”
