Sheffield-based Rostek-UK, which specialises in fall protection
and façade access, has won a £250k contract to design, supply and
install a bespoke guardrail system at the new Southmead Hospital in
Bristol.
Utilising the skills and experience of its in-house teams,
Rostek-UK will be installing 3600 metres of specially designed
guardrail around the perimeter of the new £430m 800-bed hospital,
which is due to open in 2014.
Building envelope specialist, Prater, awarded the contract to
Rostek-UK.
Commenting on the reasons for choosing Rostek-UK, Dean Lister,
commercial manager of Prater said,
"We were very impressed with the knowledge and expertise within
the Rostek-UK team. By combining the skills of its in-house
designers, project managers and installers it produced a tender
document that fully answered our brief and met our cost
requirements.
"The company is extremely professional and the ongoing help and
advice its team provides is invaluable."
John Hepworth, the company's sales and marketing director,
said:
"Although we have only been established for just over a year we
have already won a number of high profile and prestigious contracts
- a position that reinforces our growing reputation and recognises
the skills and expertise within our team."
"The Southmead project is particularly important for a number of
reasons - not least that it enables us to demonstrate the scope of
our service offering by working across a number of our in-house
departments including design, project management and
installation.
"Secondly, Southmead is the first in a series of major new
hospital developments across the country, and by developing and
delivering successful systems for it, we will certainly boost our
standing when it comes to the specification for others."
Rostek-UK was established in February 2010 and is backed by
Finnish global facade access manufacturer Rostek OY. Based in
Sheffield, the company is headed by directors Dave Uttley and John
Hepworth both of whom have extensive experience within the
industry. Over the last 12 months they have recruited a team of
industry experts covering design, project management, installation
engineering and training.
Rostek-UK has adopted a flexible approach to business, enabling
it to work on any type of working at height project across a whole
range of buildings, whether it is new build or listed, 50 storeys
or two floors. It is also able to provide maintenance contracts,
staff training and surveys of properties to ensure they comply with
