RACHEL BARSON

Rachel originally hails from Hull, where against all odds she learned to speak proper and is now considered a bit posh. A trip down South to Oxford Uni saw her graduate in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, and although she may not have learned to cook or make a decent cup of tea, she did play a lot of hockey and learned how to punt.

Having decided that she wasn’t quite prepared to let go of academia, she began her slow ascent back up North, stopping in the not-so posh locale of Brum. Here she managed to avoid picking up any trace of the local accent, but did walk away with a Masters in International Relations and her tea-making inability still intact.

Always keen to buck the trend, Rachel then decided to turn her back on the high-flying, jet-setting career path followed by so many of her friends and instead opted for the high profile East Yorkshire market town of Beverley, where she spent two years ensuring that the MP for Beverley and Holderness made the papers for all the right reasons.

Hooked on media relations, Rachel joined Source in March 2008 but still plays hockey, avoids making tea and dodges her turn in the kitchen (although sadly, doesn’t punt anymore).

Despite her lack of tea making skills, Rachel works well in the all male environment, thanks mainly to her willingness to take on the role of laughing at Peter's jokes and mock the competitive duals between Peter and Daniel on a daily basis.
