Classical crossover singer, Matthew Crane, from Rochester, has been crowned the winner of Beacon Bingo’s national talent competition, ‘Beacon’s Got Talent.

Now in its second year, the competition, included seven regional heats at Beacon Bingo clubs around the country, with the winners all taking their place in the grand final, which was held at Europe’s largest bingo club, Beacon Bingo in Cricklewood on Saturday 29th April.

Matthew, 24, who won his heat at Beacon Bingo Margate, wowed the judges with his unique vocal skills and renditions of Puccini’s ‘Nessun Dorma’ from the opera Turandot. He received a cash prize of £3000.

Singer Everton McLeary, representing Beacon Bingo Cricklewood, came second and received a cash prize of £1500, and singer Courtney Fell, representing Beacon Bingo Ilkeston, was third and won a cash prize of £500.

Beacon’s Got Talent’ started running in March with heats that took place at Beacon Bingo’s seven clubs around the country during March and April.

  • Singer Rachel Wigg representing Beacon Bingo Lowestoft

Matthew Crane, the winner of Beacon’s Got Talent, said: “I’ve been performing for thirteen years and entered a few competitions in the past. I even got to last year’s Beacon’s Got Talent final and came second! So it is awesome to go one better this year and be crowned the winner of this year’s ‘Beacon’s Got Talent’.”

“I will put some of the prize money towards progressing my singing career and use the rest to take my family on holiday – they’ eve always supported my passion for singing and really do deserve a treat.

Simon Coombes, Beacon Bingo marketing manager said: “The grand final in Cricklewood was fabulous and the standard was incredible. The competition was tough but the three winners were all very deserving.”

“It is unbelievable how much talent we have had in our clubs over the last couple of months – from singing and dancing, to telling jokes – we’ve had it all. ‘Beacon’s Got Talent’ proved to be a huge success with our customers – many of whom travelled down to London to support the seven final acts.”
