Social Media

Our approach to Social Media

With the nation spending more time than ever before on social media, standing out from the competition to reach consumers or business professionals has never been more vital or challenging for brands.

Our team of paid and organic social media specialists live on platforms such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook and utilise their skills to deliver engaging, content-led campaigns that add real value to our clients and their audiences.

Our approach centres on making a tangible impact across social channels, rather than simply adding to the endless noise, in order to build communities for our clients, drive reach, meaningful engagement and strengthen brand visibility.

Increasing engagement

High-impact, shareable content remains the most powerful currency for brands with a sizeable presence on social media.

Formats such as videos and graphics through to carousels and case studies are essential to achieving cut-through and keeping audiences continually interested and engaged.

Our client campaigns centre on sharing behind-the-scenes insights, industry opinion and leveraging trending topics to build authenticity and relevance. We also experiment with tone, style, and timing of posts to ensure brands stay fresh and relatable – underpinned by repurposing long-form content into bite-sized tips or graphics for users to quickly scroll.

The team also has the expertise to balance promotional, sales-led material with entertaining, educational or inspiring posts that resonate with audiences rather than overwhelm them. Our test and learn approach coupled with our ability to harness live social data and analytics, enables us to deliver the right message at the right time.

The role of influencer marketing

With many consumer brands increasingly turning to trusted, authentic and highly relevant influencers to endorse their products or services, it has fast become a core tactic to build social followers and drive sales.

Whether it’s creating events, campaigns or initiatives to engage individual influencers on an organic or paid for level, to managing influencer programmes on a mass scale, our team has the experience and expertise to guide clients through the right approach.

Whatever the budget or size of influencer, we manage campaigns from end-to-end, ensuring that all activity is aligned with the key objectives and KPIs.

Driving thought leadership

Channels such as LinkedIn offer business professionals the perfect platform to maximise thought leadership opportunities amongst target audiences.

We’ve vast experience of working with clients to give them a voice – sharing and amplifying their perspective, industry insights and challenges to build authority.

We achieve success because we recognise that thought leadership is built on being consistent, authentic and able to produce value-driven content. Our team is able to develop a joined-up strategy with PR, by identifying the topics and producing the articles, post and videos needed to keep audiences engaged and give our clients a credible voice over a sustained period of time.

Employee advocacy

Social media platforms are by their very nature people-based and all about an engaged community of individuals speaking with other like-minded audiences. Brands clearly have a role to play but it is people and human interaction that holds the key to social media success.

This why we work with businesses to harness the collective power of their employees, to amplify their brand presence, authority and credibility.  When employees post or share their own content, it extends reach way beyond a brand message or corporate communication and establishes greater trust.

On LinkedIn, for example, every employee has the potential to be a brand ambassador for their business, that has the ability to showcase a company’s culture, products, services or expertise. Employee advocacy can also translate into direct sales, working on the principle that people are more likely to buy from people they know, like and trust.

At Source, we support clients that need to maximise employee advocacy. We delivered a hugely successful training programme to Reward Funding and its business development team, to help them build their own personal brands and raise their industry profile amongst commercial finance brokers and other key introducer audiences.

Community management

Maintaining a fully engaged community provides the cornerstone to any successful social media strategy.

From developing and implementing a consistent programme of engaging and meaningful content, to being responsive to audience queries and messages, we manage client’s social media communities so that they are an interactive space that truly reflects their brand.

We use the latest tools needed to track brand sentiment and actively listen to audiences – monitoring comments, messages, and mentions to respond promptly. We also assist in developing escalation processes to help our clients directly respond to more specific enquires, such as those relating to customer service issues, products, services or sales.

It’s about recognising how to encourage dialogue, whether that be asking questions, running polls or by inviting users to share their own content, so that social media communities thrive.

Steering conversation

Podcasts and webinars go hand in hand with social media. They play a vital role in helping brands tell their story in an engaging and interactive way, whilst providing the perfect vehicle to both promote thought leadership and showcase products, services and expertise.

Our team at Source has created its own successful podcast series and has continually supported clients looking to deliver and amplify their own shows or webinars.

Social media is the primary driver for promoting any podcast or webinar – helping attract target audiences through bespoke content, posts, paid campaigns and event pages. The team helps brands build buzz before, during and post-event, by encouraging sign-ups, participation and live discussions.

We also maximise video snippets and highlights from each event so that no stone is left unturned, by repurposing them across social platforms to extend conversations and audience reach long after the webinar or podcast has closed.

FAQs

Once content is posted on social media platforms, the results can be immediate. Clicks, engagements and traffic can appear within seconds of going live. Not every piece of content is going to go viral. Success instead should be measured more in terms of reaching relevant audiences with the right message, regardless their size.

In addition to talented teams that live and breathe social media, it’s also important to have great content creators given the important role it plays across every platform. Given that many businesses may already have inhouse resource, we try to be flexible and adapt to client’s needs. Some may need community management of their channels, training, posting, content creation or a combination of everything.  Also look out for an agency that understands your audiences and the sector you operate in, especially if your business operates in a space where industry knowledge is critical.

Yes, we support clients in this area across all major social media platforms. More information on our approach is available here.

In terms of activity, we produce a live work in progress report which outlines key SEO tasks to be completed and their priority of importance. We utilise Looker Studio to offer real-time reporting where needed and report monthly and quarterly SEO performance against KPIs agreed at the very outset.

We typically report performance on a monthly and quarterly basis against agreed KPIs. Reporting is again supported by weekly or fortnightly calls with our clients to check-in on performance, content schedules and update on any key changes needed to optimise campaigns.

Unfortunately, social media signals don’t directly influence SEO rankings and performance, but they do indirectly support visibility. Engaging content shared widely across social platforms drives traffic and backlinks which can bolster search performance. A key thing to remember is that search engines like Google favour those established brands (large or small) which generate more content, mentions and send direct trust signals that align with its many ranking factors. Having a strong social media presence is one of many key ingredients needed to establish and build a brand.
